Passed the Coast Guard Safety Check

Thursday May 5

Scheduled an inspection of the boat with a coast guard auxiliary member David McKibben from Guemes Island.  David went through all the usual suspects including; flares, sound signals, fire extinguishers, life jackets, oil and trash placards and a whole slew of items that the coast guard checks for if i were to be boarded.  Having been boarded before it is nice to have the current sticker on your boat so that you can possibly avoid a boarding – often if you have just had a recent check they will let you on by.  David was great and taught me a lot beyond the normal checklist and especially gave me some good training on my Raymarine chart plotter as he uses the same system.  It turned out that he owns a 25′ C-Dory named Anna Leigh (Spelling?) and I have actually read many of his posts on the forum that I belong to called c-brats.com.

Thanks David for the inspection and intel.
Cheers,
Joe
